ABC Stainless HTP tank to be put to the test

The Bloodhound project has announced that the first major test firing of the full size Falcon rocket system is set to take place in the first week of October 2012 in a secure location in the UK. The test firing will be a key moment in the development of the Bloohound project and will put the rocket system to the test. This will also put ABC Stainless to the test as they have built the HTP tank for the rocket.

The rocket system which will be installed in Bloohound with its CA210 Cosworth engine, HTP tank, gearbox, pump and hybrid falcon rocket, will be fired up and reved to 17,500 RPM. The rocket system is expected to generate in excess of 30,000 lbs of thrust with a noise level of approximately 185 db and produce a fire plume roughly 20 foot long from the back.

ABC Stainless Ltd is proud to announce its involvement with the 'Bloodhound SSC' Project: Bloodhound SSC (Super Sonic Car) is a pencil-shaped car powered by a jet engine and a rocket that is designed to reach approximately 1,000 miles per hour (1,600 km/h). It is being developed and built with the intention of breaking the land speed record by the largest ever margin. The £10 million project has now entered its third year and the construction of the car has now begun. The record attempt could happen as early as 2013.

ABC will be providing stainless steel and aerospace alloy components for the futuristic project including a rocket fuel holding tank and associated vessels and pipework.
